News: Draft 2050

General Plan Released

As work on the Petaluma General Plan 2025 nears completion, the City has released a draft for public review. Chief among the General Plan components is the Land Use policy. Included here is an Interactive Land Use Map. “The approved map will continue to be analyzed as part of the General Plan Update that includes an Environmental Impact Report, which will help the community and decision makers understand the potential environmental impacts of the updated General Plan.”

The website provides a short video tutorial on how to use the map.

The City is now in the final two stages of the new General Plan that will guide land development from now through 2050: the first stage is review of the Draft General Plan, and the second is review of the Final General Plan.

The Draft General Plan process will include a Community Review. After completion of the Final General Plan review process, work shifts to City staff to complete the necessary conforming updates to zoning ordinances that will control subsequent land use.
